Public records, not certified copies
The booking information on this site is compiled from publicly available Alabama jail and inmate-roster sources. It is a convenience copy of information that those agencies already publish. It is not a certified court record, not an official criminal history, and not a substitute for the originating agency's own records. If you need an official document, obtain it from the sheriff's office, the circuit clerk, or the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
An arrest is not a conviction
A person named in a booking record has been arrested or booked. That is not the same thing as being charged in court, and it is not the same thing as being convicted. Many arrests never become formal charges; many charges are later dismissed, reduced, or resolved without a conviction. Treat every record accordingly.
Not a consumer report
Alabama Arrests is not a consumer reporting agency, and the information on this site is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. You may not use this site — or information obtained from it — to make decisions about:
- employment, promotion, reassignment, or retention;
- housing or tenant screening;
- credit, lending, or insurance underwriting;
- any other purpose covered by the FCRA.
If you need a background check for any of those purposes, use a consumer reporting agency that is permitted to prepare FCRA-compliant reports.
Accuracy and completeness
We make a good-faith effort to collect and display booking information accurately, but public jail systems are imperfect. Records can be delayed, incomplete, mistyped at the source, or associated with the wrong person when two people share a name and date of birth. Counties also drop records from their live rosters when someone is released, transferred, or moved into another facility. Do not treat any single record as definitive without confirming it with the originating agency.
Not legal advice
Nothing on this site — including the FAQ and methodology pages — is legal advice. Alabama procedure varies by county and changes over time. If you need advice about a specific case, talk to a licensed Alabama attorney.
Third-party links
Links to Alacourt, AlaFile, county sheriff sites, and other third-party resources are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or policies.
